The importance and excitement of the New Year can sometimes be a little anticlimactic. However with your first day of the year spent in the vast wintery landscape of North West Finland, this trip is sure to make the end of the year a genuinely special and unique experience that will be remembered for many years to come.
At this time of year, Hotel Kittila is designated as adult only with no children under 12 years of age staying. This ensures that the activities and festivities maintain an adult focus and you can celebrate with like-minded individuals in a wonderful location.
The small Lappish town of Kittila is a friendly and welcoming location for visitors and offers the chance to sample authentic Finnish wilderness. During your stay here you will have the opportunity to make the most of this scenic landscape, enjoying exciting activities in the company of experienced guides.
This trip is always one of our most popular New Year experiences, receiving excellent reviews from clients each season, who praise the interesting activities and the welcoming atmosphere. Kittila is also located ideally within the Aurora Zone, ensuring excellent potential to see the Northern Lights.
By the end of your stay you will have really started the New Year in style and enjoyed snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, husky safaris and so much more.
Anybody aged 18 years or over.
"It is probably highly unlikely that you have spent a New Year’s Day snowmobiling across a pristine, snow-laden landscape, so if this takes your fancy, then do not delay in booking this trip! I love Kittila for its genuine Lappish feel, helpful and knowledgeable guides and great agenda of activities and wouldn’t hesitate in suggesting it as great location to travel to this winter. We all know that New Years can be a bit of an anti-climax, and this is the perfect antidote." Ali McLean
"Overall the holiday was excellent with mixed groups from South Africa, England, Zurich, Germany and Australia. The activities were well planned and the tour guides were very knowledgeable. When we arrived it was -32 degrees and the guides gave us tips to remain warm in the cold and how to prepare. The large overall suits were a little bulky and I used snow pants and jackets for most of the activities but the equipment was very good and maintained. The hotel Kittilä was clean and tidy with pleasant staff and the food was good overall. The main highlights of the holiday of course included the outdoor activities of husky safari, snowmobiles, reindeer, cross-country skiing and snowshoe walking. Seeing the Northern Lights was fabulous, but you need a tripod to take excellent pictures, the exposure time on the cameras needs to be at least 5-8 seconds otherwise the pictures are fuzzy. The magical colours though of the morning, through the day and at dusk were great and seeing how peopl" Steven Bosworth - Jan 15
